The Auditor – General for the Federation, Mr Anthony Ayine has stated the willingness of the Office to cooperate fully with the United Kingdom Department For International Development (DFID) for the strengthening of the audit institution. Mr Ayine made the pronouncement when DFID Head of Economic Development, Mr Richard Ough paid him a courtesy visit on Thursday, 2nd March, 2017 in Abuja. The Auditor–General acknowledged the support and assistance of DFID in its efforts to help the country build strong institutions. He said these activities will help to fight the war against corruption. It will also position the Office of the Auditor–General for the Federation well to carry out its statutory role as the foremost anti–corruption institution.
Mr Ayine commended DFID for the various supports it had offered to the Office in the areas of training, retreats and capacity training. He also expressed the desire for a long time relationship for greater achievements towards institutional development and service delivery. The Head, Economic Development, DFID, Mr Richard Ough in his statement said the purpose of the visit was to congratulate the Auditor – General on his appointment. Also to explore how the partnership which has been started can be taken further in the area of institutional strengthening.
