OAuGF Set to Implement FGIP - AuGF

The Office of the Auditor-General for the Federation (OAuGF) is set to commence field work in respect of the Fiscal Governance and Institutions Project (FGIP), aprogramme of the Federal Government in collaboration with the World Bank aimed at improved revenue generation. 

Speaking at the Audit House on Wednesday 18th September, 2019 when a representatives of the Bank paid visit, the Auditor-General assured that all preparations have been put in place to ensure that the project is effectively executed and in record time. 

"I have personally visited the agencies where work for this project will be carried out for the purpose of sensitisation and the feelers I received are positive. We have groomed expertise for the assignment by training our staff on improved ways of Financial and Compliance Audits, Oil and Gas Audit, IT Audit and Performance Audit with support from DFID, GIZ and AFROSAI-E," the AuGF explained. 

Ayine said further that Letters of Understanding to the auditees have been prepared, just as a work-plan and budget draft for the project is being finalised. Also, the formation of teams from the pool of trained staff will be concluded before the end of the week. 

"If the first phase of fund disbursement is done, I see nothing stopping the teams from being on the field by next week," he affirmed.

In addition, the OAuGF has inaugurated a steering committee chaired by the Auditor-General for the project as part of preparations. Members of the Committee include: The Director Emerging Issues & Special Duties,Adolphus A. Aghughu and The Director Revenue & Economic Sector Audit, Julius M. Isiuku.

Others are:The Director Treasury Audit Department, S. C. Nwagboh; The Director Programme& Performance Audit, AdewaleOwolo(Who is the Project Coordinator); Deputy Director International Desk,DamulakKiyanta, Technical Advisors Ayo Ogunyemi and Ismail Adeleye, as well as lead auditors for FGIP and SFTAS.

Earlier, representatives of the World Bank, Sabah Rashid and Rajul Awasthi said the purpose of their visit was to assess the level of preparation by the Office to kick-start the project and find out how they can support. 

Lead speaker Rashid who expressed satisfaction with the steps taken so far by the Office,  said they would be happy to have the OAuGF team over at the Bank to look through the work-plan and budget draft together for the purpose of validation; adding that the project can now disburse funds.
