The Auditor-General for the Federation (AuGF) Mr. Anthony Mkpe Ayine has pledged his support and the willingness of the Office of Auditor-General for the Federation (OAuGF) to assist the Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria (ICAN) in its drive towards excellence.

Mr. Ayine made this pledge when the executive members of ICAN Abuja district paid him a visit in his office on Monday, 12th June, 2017 in Abuja.

The Auditor-General commended the ICAN brand for its stride and achievements in molding professionals that have proved their value in every aspect of the accounting profession. He said, “as a member of ICAN, I am indeed proud of the organization and will continue to support its activities”.

Mr Ayine promised that the OAuGF will support the Institute in its aspiration to be the best. It will also assist in the molding, motivating and developing of young members of the district. This he said will be achieved through arrangements of different fora where older colleagues will share their experiences and lessons learnt in the course of their work will be showcased to direct and guide the younger members.

Earlier, the Chairman ICAN, Abuja district, Mr. Niyi Akande congratulated the Auditor-General on his appointment.  Mr. Akande said the motivation for the visit was premised on the AuGF’s passion for ICAN and its activities; hence their desire to tap on his wealth of experience.

The Chairman who prayed for the success of the AuGF highlighted some of the challenges in which the Institute requires assistance. The challenges included the need for a befitting headquarters for the district, and a good vehicle.

Mr Akande also expressed the desire of the Institute to have a seamless relationship with the Auditor-General and the consideration of their members for consultancy and auditing works for the government whenever there are such openings.
