HEALTHY PEOPLE ARE PRODUCTIVE PEOPLE...AuGF

The Auditor-General for the Federation, Mr. Anthony Mkpe Ayene has made a correlation of sport with good health and productivity. According to Mr. Ayine, “there is a close relationship between active sports, good health and productivity. Therefore, spending money on sports is spending wisely because it will make a healthy and productive officer”. These were the words of the Auditor-General when the executives of the Office of the Auditor-General for the Federation (OAuGF) sports club paid him a courtesy call on Thursday, 15th June, 2017 to present the medals and trophy they won during their last outing. The Auditor-General promised to motivate the management and staff of the Office to be actively involved in sporting activities because the Office will get full  benefit from its workforce when staff are mentally and physically fit to carry out assigned duties.

Mr. Ayine commended the club for having a structure on ground which can be built upon. He said that the medals and trophy won by members of the team during the Federal Civil Service games and the walking- jogging exercise early this year are testimonies of the team’s hard work and signs of potentials which must be acknowledged and encouraged. The Auditor-General assured them of his full support and commitment to the development of the sports club. He encouraged them to aspire for higher heights while promising to look into the financing for the kitting of the members and other equipments and financial requirements to make the sports club vibrant.

Earlier in his speech the Sports Manager Mr. Paul Ipinmoroti thanked the Auditor-General for being present at the National walking and jogging for 2017. According to him, the Auditor-General’s physical presence boosted the morale of the members which contributed to their taking the first position as the best kitted team and the third position as the best behaved team. He also presented the medals and trophy won by the team during the last public service games in which the team won gold medal in draught and silver medal in lawn tennis and the team was 15th on the medal table. Mr. Ipinmoroti said the team achieved all these in spite of the limitations of the team. He therefore appealed to the Auditor-General to assist the team to kit the club with necessary equipments to enable it carry out keep- fit and aerobic activities and also organize annual interdepartmental indoor games competitions in chess, table tennis, scrabble etc to keep members of staff physically and mentally healthy.
