Sensitization Workshop for Top Management on Customization of Performance Audit Manual
The Office of the Auditor General for the Federation (OAuGF) of Nigeria identified with the regional programme being delivered by IDI in Cooperation with AFROSAI-E and had its Management Development Programme rolled- out in February 2013. This was a big step towards the transformation process set in motion to ensure that (OAuGF) becomes an outstanding leading SAI among the committee of SAIs in the region and beyond.
Audit Standards and Methodology is one of the key areas identified for improvement within OAuGF. One of the recommended strategies for improvement in this area is the proper Adaptation and Customizations of the AFRSAI-E Performance Audit Manual (PAM). Five Champions namely Patience Odusanya , Chuks Nwagboh , Olu Samuel, Apoti Abdulsalawu, Atom Moses, and Clement Ojile have been selected to deliver the Cusomization of PAM from among the Group of 40 officers driving the MDP.
A top-down approach was adopted by the team, hence the One-day Sensitization Workshop for the management staff on the 29th of August 2012 at the Conference room of the Audit House.
Declaring the workshop opened the Director of Audit Treasury Accounts Mr. Osonuga emphasized that management has a key role to play in setting the tone for PA audit process which is a veritable tool in judicious spending.
At the Sensitization the workshop, key the features, principles, procedures and methodology of Performance Audit as outlined in the manual was presented by the leader of PAM Team Mrs. Odusanya, Patience Oluremi the Deputy Director of Performance Audit. The 23 numbered performance auditors who had been trained and those about to complete their PA course and had just concluded on six different pilot testing projects were at the workshop to share practical experience with management staff.
By the end of the work shop missing gaps were identified and recommendations made by management were obtained and documented for implementation by the PAM Team.
The essence was for management to imbibe the content of PAM which is based on International Standard for Supreme Audit Institutions (ISSAIs) as a working tool.
