The African Students Union Parliament (ASUP) has honored the Auditor-General for the Federation, Mr. Samuel T. Ukura with Pan-African Leadership Merit Award.
The Award was given to him recently in his Office by a delegation from the 51 registered member countries of the Union Parliament. The delegation was led by the speaker of the Parliament, Rt. Hon. Coulibally Ahmed.
Hon. Coulibally Ahmed said that the award was given to the Auditor-General for the Federation in recognition of his astute dedication to duty and effective service delivery, public financial prudence, and community services etc.
The students stated that Mr. Ukura through his high administrative acumen and prudent financial management has brought a lot of innovations include among others, introduction of modern auditing practices e.g Performance Audit, IT Auditing, and acquisition of an ultra-modern new head office.
The delegation implored the Auditor-General to continue with the good work as all these strides have led to creation of employment for the youths.
The Auditor-General while responding, thanked the students for the honour bestowed on him. He pledged his support to their noble projects-campaign against drug abuse, and cultism in higher institutions etc.
Mr. Ukura advised the students to be law abiding and worthy ambassadors of their countries.
